Why do I write?
I write because
I see something or smell something
or feel something
that I can not understand,
until I try to describe it
in written words...

Dedication
"To my Sister's Margaret and
Irene,
for whom I wrote this poem.
For the time's we've had and the year's to come.
May our Sister ship always be blessed,
and our hearts and lives entwined."
Sister Ship
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
Let me hold you close to me my sister.
Let me hold you close, not letting you go.
We are bonded, you and me my sister.
By birth, blood, love and much more.
Let me raise up an entryway for you my sister.
An entryway to my heart.
To keep you near me my sister, never to part.
Let me learn from you my sister.
As you can learn from me.
To accept the wonders and faults of each other,
and love one another wholeheartedly.
Let me hear your cries my sister.
Let me comfort you my dear.
For I to cry my sister and wish someone would hear.
Come to me sister, Yes I do miss your face.
Your words sing song to me my sister,
and I need you to be near.
Never forget me my sister.
For my thoughts often reach out for you.
Sometimes it seems that we are not one.
Not as whole as we should be.
Hold your hand out to me my sister,
Believe me I will not let go.
Hold your hand out, like an olive branch,
Full of peaceful feelings and Adore.
Sometimes my words escape me my sister.
Elusive to my lips.
And writing is my only way.
So remember when I mention Sister ship,
it's all these things I want to say.

Memories
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
They come and go, in short flashes.
Sometimes I can hardly see.
I don't know where they came from.
But yet I know they are real.
Some are so real,
I feel that I'm living them again.
And some are faded,
like old picture's you can hardly see.
I cry from my memories,
and smile from my memories.
Some are so bad I hide,
from what I see inside my mind.
I wake to memories that haunt my sleep,
and make me weep.
Sometimes I don't know why I cry.
I just do.

Daddy and Me
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
Today I'm gonna drive away.
"My daddy's coming to get me" I say.
Oh Yea Let's play,
Ball in the park.
Ride in the dark.
Take me to Sleepy Hallow.
Daddy's driving back and forth,
and I'm sliding across the seat.
"Sleepy Hallow" he says with a funny laugh
and in the air are my feet.
Take me to Mickey D's.
I want chicken nuggets, Please please please.
"Ok Ok" is what he say's.
Not the drive through,
let's sit down and stay.
Happy Meal! Hip hip Hooray.
I can eat this everyday.
"Your my first child" he would say
Your going to remember this some day.
We better hurry we cant be late.
You're mother hates when she has to wait.
Bye Daddy

My Mami
(pronounced Mommy)
written by:
Raquel Hernandez
My Mami always brushed my hair,
and she would hum a funny tune.
When I was little,
she always kept me clean,
taught me not to be mean.
Was there when I have a bad dream.
Me and her were a team.
She cooked good food.
Taught me manners how not to be rude.
And she was very shrewd,
was mostly in a good mood.
Sometimes we didn't get along.
But that's OK,
because she taught me to be strong,
corrected me when I was wrong.
At night she would sing me songs.
My Mami was young,
and sometimes she made mistakes.
She taught me all I know.
So I could grow to be a good person.
My Mami is pretty and witty,
so much fun to talk to,
with so much love to give.
Because of Her I'm what I am today.
A Mami to my own Baby.

Mami and Me
(pronounced Mommy)
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
I remember when I was young,
and all I wanted to do is have fun.
I loved the sun,
in the morning through my window.
And my Mami was there
to comb my hair,
Oh Yea, she had a flair.
For making things to wear.
At her sewing machine she would sew,
until I begged her to let go.
Let Me Let Me!
"When I finish we will see."
is what she said to me.
How simple life can be
when your young and tiny.
In the kitchen it smells so good.
Mami's cooking,
Boy I wonder if she would make my favorite today.
"Can I help?" is what I say
"No No not today."
I love life this way.

Remember Me
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
I remember your eye's and smile.
I remember your ways and style.
I remember your good ways,
and I remember your bad.
Your the first love I ever had.
Yes, I loved you all the while,
as though you were my child.
Never again can we be lovers.
We can't forget what we meant to each other.
Even though we are apart.
Your memory is still in my heart,
because in my life you played a big part.
Even if a couple we are no more.
Part of me still says, your the one I adore
for , forever more.
Even though you and I cannot be.
Please do this one last thing and
Remember Me.

Because you are Strong!
Written By:
LuvRaqui / Raquel Hernandez
Copyright 1999
For the love of your life,
and the love of song.
There is only one thing to do.
Keep Strong!
To keep your Family,
to show them right from wrong
To fight for their lives you must.
Keep Strong!
To delight your soul,
To do the things you love.
To Express yourself freely you must.
Keep Strong!
In the face of adversity,
When looked down upon.
There can be only one solution.
Keep Strong!
Because of your strength,
and how miraculous you are,
no one would dare debate you,
not a soul could deflate you,
and in the end God will elate you.
Because you are strong.

To My Love
Written By:
Raquel Hernandez
Nothing I say or do, could express to you.
The love I feel, when I think of you.
I close my eye's and savor the look of your face,
and the feel of your lips.
The last time you kissed me,
when I think,
how wonderful you are.
I think about every look of love we shared.
Do I dare imagine you,
lying next to me in the moonlight.
Sleepy eyed, lips opened wide.
To slowly give me a midnight kiss.
To hold me and rock me,
into slumbered bliss.

Celebrating
You

It is so funny how
two People,
Can care so much for each other.
Even though they are miles apart.
It is amazing how two People,
can touch each others hearts,
with out ever meeting.
It is truly a gift worth celebrating
So I am Celebrating YOU!

I
Wanted To Say...
Written

LuvRaqui
/ Raquel Hernandez
I wanted to say a Prayer today.
Not sure of what to say.
I want to say a Prayer Today.
There was something I wanted to say.
I wanted to Thank God
For giving me friends that love me so
For bringing me Joy.
I wanted to Thank God
That this morning I can breathe
the fragrant incense of the trees
and for my thoughts that I keep.
I wanted to Thank God
For something very real....
My broken heart and how it heals.
I wanted to Thank God
that today I am alive
'cause it wasn't so long ago
I almost died.
I wanted to Thank God
That I have met Lovely Ladies
across the Net.
I wanted to say LORD THANKS
that I have a child, that she is fine
that you gave a gift so divine.
I wanted to say Just one more time
Thank you God for being My God
and Thank You Lord for looking over me.
Sometimes I wonder what you see in me.
But as long as you are beside me
I can never go wrong.

You Remind me Of
Written
June, 2002
LuvRaqui
/ Raquel Hernandez
You remind of Days of old.
When men were called Mister,
and Ladies were called Miss.
When a man holding a door open for a
women,
was not special it was common place.
When Ladies didn't cuss and neither
did Men.
At least not around the Ladies.
Men tipped hats and bowed at the
waist,
While Women Curtsied.
When dancing was done to get a chance
to speak
to that enchanting young lady,
And blushing while fluttering
eyelashes
showed a man that you were
interested.
When young men hurried to bring punch
to that girl that they admired,
And girls didn't have to worry about
what he might
have slipped into it while they were
not watching.
Days of Old when romance was
important.
Sitting on a young girls porch on
Wednesday
evening meant something.
Speaking to her parents was a sacred
event,
not a bother or a chore.
Days when Men treated ladies like
Ladies.
Days when Men acted like Men.
When women were thought to be
precious,
And men were the strength to lean
upon.
Days that are long gone.
But yet you Remind me,
Of the look that a boy gets when he
looks into a girls eyes,
The feeling that a girl gets when she
sees him,
And that simple kiss you would wait
all week for.
