September 25,
1999
Raquel and
Christopher vowed to be together forever.
Truly by a
chance meeting in conditions that seemed dim.
A Love and
friendship was born that is ever going.
Neither one
ever thought that they would be married,
Until they met
each other and found similar souls.
With the ever
trying world around them,
they both
continue to work together and be each other's home.

Our Story
Extremely
sick and near death Raquel was admitted into Jacobi
Hospital in
the Bronx, New York where Christopher worked.
Diagnosed
with an Extreme case of pneumonia Raquel
was in bad
condition with a only a 30% chance of making it.
Unable to
move or eat and unconscious most of the time, she was
receiving IV
antibiotics for 3 days in hopes that the infected fluid
surrounding
her lung and would go down. This fluid threaten to
either drown
her or cause her lung to burst from the pressure. The
fluid
subsided a bit but not enough and on the 4th day Doctors
inserted a
tube in the cavity near her right lung to drain the
infected
fluid that
had collected. She was moved to the ICU unit. After
about a week
she met Christopher. He worked in the ICU unit and
helped to
care of her. He
was very kind and took a bit of time to sit
and speak
with her. He even loaded her his walkman and a couple
of tapes,
since she couldn't have a TV in the ICU unit. Raquel was
grateful for
the kindness he showed her. She was
sick,
scared and
missed her
family. The small comfort was wonderful for her.
Christopher
started looking for Raquel when he was at work.
Passing the
door when he could get a chance. Most times she would
be sleeping
and open her eyes enough to say hi and give a little
wave.
Raquel would look forward to Christopher passing by
helping and
talking to her. He seemed like such a nice quite
person.
She always waited until he came around to ask for
something.
Raquel knew Christopher would help her and not
ignore her
like some of the other workers. The Nurses started
teasing
Christopher saying "Your little girlfriend in Bed 10 wants
you."
Christopher made a joking remark to a co-worker. "I am going
to marry
that woman". Little did he know that his joke would come
true.
Raquel was in the ICU unit for 3 weeks when doctors saw that
she was
doing very well. They then transferred her to the regular
unit.
Happy but sad also because she doubted she would see
Christopher
again. I do want to see him again she thought to herself.
One night
Christopher looked for Raquel and found her on the
other
unit. Raquel being so excited that he would actually look for
her smiled a
smile that was said to capture his heart instantly. He
knew that all he
wanted to do was make this woman smile everyday
of her life. He
would have to see this women after she was sent
home.
They sat, talked and got to know each other a bit more.
Christopher
stayed with Raquel for about 4 hours. Until he
had to
return to work. Raquel gave Christopher her phone number
and a good
bye hug. It seemed so perfect for a moment.
A couple of months later Christopher went to visit Raquel at home
and from there it was a blur with in one month they were a couple.
Two weeks after Chris asked Raquel to be his wife. Engaged and
planning their wedding the next year they were married.
Even though we
go through so many hard times we dedicated ourselves together.
The grass may look greener on the other side. But who knows
what problems that grass may bring. We are satisfied with
each other and our way of life. We know exactly what we have
and are willing to work with it. We don't believe in
magically relationships. We have our hard times but we have
a lot invested in each other. We understand and try to
cooperate with each other even when we don't want to.
We work for everything in life and our Marriage is worth the work.
We have a
special Love that believe in.

All of my
life I have been searching for someone to find me.
I have been
lonely, waiting for your arms to hold me.
Vanessa
You took me
in from the cold and out of the dark.
You have
taken me into your heart.
Both
You are my
Home.
You are the
one that I come to.
You are the
shelter I run to.
To keep me
safe from the cold.
You are my
home.
You are the
love that completes me.
You are the
touch that has freed me.
I look in
your eyes and I know.
You are my
Home
Both
You were the
light in the window when I couldn't find my way.
Chyanne
You lead my
heart to wanting a place here beside you.
Vanessa
You're where
I always will live, You're where I live now.

I have been
looking for you for so long.
