At the Dachshund Family
Wiggling bundles of energy
Tails tocking in the air
The flopping of a thousand ears
There were dachsies everywhere
Some wore scarves and some wore sweaters
Some came in twos and threes
Some yipped and some were quiet
As they wriggled ‘neath our knees
There were Dappled by dozen
And Brindles by the bunch
Long haired, shorted haired, curlies
All pleading for our lunch
They pranced around like ponies
Toes tapping as to dance
Some hoping for a rendezvous
A dachsie - hund romance
All their people, they stood proudly
Knowing their ‘Hund was best
For all the people who love dachshunds
Are blissfully obsessed

Thank you Oh Lords of Lords
For what you have given me.
Something That I thought could not be.
A Love that will haunt my days always.
With gentle wet nose and whimpers of gold.
With sweet silent eyes, open wide.
With sweet loving licks and soft nuzzles.
My Lord of Lords You have blessed me.
How could I thank you? How could I say?
That since you brought me this great love,
My every pain has gone away.
When I weep it is them whom I seek to comfort me.
I believe that when you created man.
It may have been in your image.
But when you created Our Faithful Friends.
It was in the image of your heart.
I promise you Lord to keep constant watch.
To have and hold them.
To show kindness and love.
To never hurt them. To kiss them often.
To never ever take them for granted.
This gift of gifts.
Is more than I imagined and I Thank You Lord.
Thank You, Thank You.
Forever My Martie Boy

When I think of Forever, what do I see.
I do not see the forest or the might oak tree.
I do not see beaches and the endless Sea.
I do not think of man and the emotions he keeps.
I do not think of my family tree, cause sometimes they leave.
I do not think of my country, no matter how strong it seems.
I do not think of money and the worth of it.
Or sunsets that I watch when I sit.
I only think of one thing.
A love so pure as the dew dropped leaves.
A love so precious I could never leave.
A love that makes me happy in the day.
And rests with me at night, we even play.
He is Love in it's purest form.
He is a Darling I adore.
And I will love him for Forever more.
Me, he has never annoyed.
And he will remain,
Forever My Martie Boy.
1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I'm chewing something, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it looks just like mine, it is mine.
8. If I saw it first, it's mine.
9. If you are playing with something and you put it down,
it automatically becomes mine.
"How God Made Dachshunds"
Julie Wrigley Smith ©1996
God made a little dachsie
to brighten up our day.
He took a bit of sunshine,
laughter, love, and play,
and rolled it up in a sausage shape
just right for a hug,
with bright eyes full of mischief
set in its little mug.
With little paws a pattering,
to take it here and there-
and a cold wet nose-but then He thought,
"Oh, what about the hair?
Shall I make it long and silky,
or wiry, that's so sweet, or make it simple, and have it smooth
and satiny and neat?
And what about the color-
how can I pick just one?
Shall it be black, or red or brown
or dappled, just for fun?"
He pondered while He made the world,
And all creatures great and small-
And then the answer came to Him-
"OF COURSE! I'll make them ALL!!"
So remember that a dachshund
is special, from above His coat of many colors
is a sign of God's great Love.
"Creation of Dogs"
Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in
the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you anymore.
We are lonesome here and it is difficult for us to remember how much you
And God said, "No problem! I will create a companion for you that will
be with you forever and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so
that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how
selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will
accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And it
was a good animal. And God was pleased. And the new animal was pleased
to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail. And Adam said, "Lord, I
have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of
a name for this new animal."
And God said, "No problem. Because I have created this new animal to be
a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own
name, and you will call him DOG." And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and
was a companion to them and loved them. And they were comforted. And God
was pleased. And Dog was content and wagged his tail.
